Charcott - October 2026

October's walk was kindly led by Molly and Dennis. It began at St Lukes Church in Chiddingstone Causeway, and took a circular route around Charcott and the surrounding fields and farms. The weather was much kinder to the fifteen walkers (and one dog) than the forecast had suggested, with barely a drop of rain. Although not at peak display, some vibrant autumn colours were starting to appear.

The going was mostly open, firm and flat, with even the occasional paved section, and very little road walking. Members were treated to some atmospheric, misty views across the hills along the way, as well as a bit of history - crossing a wartime airfield, complete with WWII concrete pillboxes. Another, unexpected, feature of the walk was a 'shoe tree', adjacent to Compasses Road (see photos).

The walk was over three miles, and conveniently finished just up the road from the Little Brown Jug pub.
