On a rare sunny day recently London Studies 2 visited the British Museum. It is a beautiful building with the largest covered public square in Europe, The Great Court, designed by Foster and Partners, is a two-acre space enclosed by a spectacular glass roof. Our Group had planned a self-guided tour featuring 12 hand-picked fascinating objects: Hoa Hakananai’a, the huge Easter Island statue, the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon marbles, Sutton Hoo helmet, the Lewis Chessmen and other smaller, exquisite gold and bronze exhibits. We left, a little wiser after hearing their fascinating history, to enjoy the buzzing, lively area around the Museum.
