Short Mat Bowls

short mat bowls

About the Group:

Short mat bowls is an indoor sport in which players attempt to score points by rolling a heavy ball along a fairly flat surface, to gain as many shots as possible by getting their bowls nearer to the jack than their opponents, and so outscore them. The game is a modern variation on lawn bowls, from which it is derived.

When and where?
We play at Edenbridge Leisure Centre in the Main Sports Hall each Monday morning. We arrive at 9.15am to start playing in teams at 9.30am. We play for two hours. All levels of ability are welcome from beginners to experienced players.

However, Mondays are now full. But Tuesday sessions have space for Edenbridge U3A members so if anyone would like to join us then they would be most welcome. Afternoon sessions start at 13:30 and finish at 15:30. Players meet every other week.

Cost?
Costs vary according to whether you are a member of the Edenbridge Leisure Centre or not. If you are a full member of the Leisure Centre then there is no cost. Otherwise you pay at the Leisure Centre entrance desk according to their current tariff. The equipment is provided so you don’t need to own your own bowls.

U3A:
This is not an exclusively Edenbridge U3A group and we will be joining players not part of the U3A.
